PROJECT CONCEPT: Transformation is made entirely of recycled railroad track.  It represents the transition from an industrialized economy to a “greener” economy where we take care of our environment in order that it may sustain us for generations to come.

Creating a sculpture out of railroad track is arduous work.  But after many hours of labor and with the help of others, you have a beautiful piece of art.  The very process of creating this sculpture is a symbol of the hard work and creativity required to reinvent our economy and our infrastructure in order to save our environment.  But, when we do, the reward is more than we could have imagined.

The two sides of the tree sculpture are connected at the base, then separate, but eventually come back together – each side reinforcing and supporting the other.  This visual narrates the global reawakening that we are connected to and reliant on nature.  We aren’t separate from nature – we are one and the same.  In this way, it expresses the balance we strive for between people and the environment and between industry and nature.
